One of my favorite things about asking people to make mixes for Foxy Digitalis is getting hit with the unexpected. I’ve been a big admirer of Nate Scheible since I first heard him play on those early collaborations with Mark McGuire. Almost five years ago he released the incredible Fairfax and with it getting a well-deserved and much-needed reissue via Warm Winters Ltd, it presented an excellent opportunity to get in touch with Scheible and, among other things, ask him to make a mix.
Suffice to say, I wasn’t expecting an hour of stellar cuts centered around the inimitable (and underappreciated!) Don Pullen, but I was damn excited that’s what he put together. Hit play on this cathartic collection of free-flowing mindbenders and then pre-order Fairfax immediately.
