It’s a special thing when a remix album becomes very much its own thing. All The Time In The World finds eight different artists remixing GALÁN / VOGT’s stellar The Sweet Wait, and while countless threads connect the two, this collection of reworks has a life of its own. Hélène Vogelsinger captures the spiritual and sonorous core of “Opa” and then sets it free in a cascading matrix of an alternate universe. Rising sonic waves effervesce under the weight of a bass-heavy noise wall compressing fraught melodies into a tense, sharp point. Vogt’s voice is an immovable mountain, grounded yet soaring, showing us how to find the light.
“The first time I listened to ‘Opa,’ I felt carried by Karen’s voices, voices of unconditional love,” Vogelsinger shares. “These voices that we need in moments of doubt, of suffering, of loss of fai th. Inevitable passages in this earthly existence. These voices that bring us back to the surface and give us strength to continue on a path of forgiveness, love, compassion, reconciliation.” She stitches this spirit into each gilded arpeggio, each tension-breaking cadence.
Vogelsinger sculpts “Opa” into an emotional constellation of beautiful, organic soundscapes. For a piece of music already teeming with life, in the world of this remix, it becomes even more flush. “When it came to working on the remix, everything was clear to me. An angelic being comes to deliver this message to us, earthlings. Like a proposal, a pact, a possible alliance between heaven and Earth,” she explains. “Everything has been reworked with this idea in mind (and heart). I can visualize the scene second by second.” Every note sings with this feeling, connecting hearts and universes at the same time.
