Track Premiere: Kenneth James Gibson & Paul Carman “Finding New Language”

Unexpected collaborations can bring such fruitful returns. Kenneth James Gibson has been a regular on Foxy Digitalis for the last few years, but this newest effort with former Frank Zappa saxophonist Paul Carman takes us into new, ephemeral spaces. Built on a framework of saxophone recordings made at Gibson’s Idyllwild studio, “Finding New Language” rises and falls with melodic expression. Emotive responses emerge from elongated sonic drifts, with textured swells breathing melancholic silhouettes into divine shapes. This music pulls us inward. Reflections on glass move in slow, purposeful shapes, looking for a way to fade from view. Gibson sculpts Carman’s sounds into beautiful, living masses. A wonder.
