Milan-based percussionist Stefano Grasso and Post Moves’ Sam Wenc lose themselves in an extended moment on their new album, Omni. On “Ety,” the first glimpse, Wenc’s pedal steel bends inward, humming at the edge of collapse, while Grasso searches the ground for structural ghosts. The piece is a melodic shapeshifter, with hollow tones scattering around cascading percussive textures. Wenc and Grasso shift roles fluidly, each taking turns guiding the sound as it unfolds in real-time. “Ety” is only a fragment, though—Omni reveals an entire landscape, both internal and expansive, waiting to be explored.
