“Untimely Flowering Season” unfolds in an elegiac soundworld, where drifting synth drones carry a weightless kind of melancholy. Kuma shapes each phrase with subtle tonal shifts, like light filtering through layers of sheer fabric, always changing, never quite landing. The found footage in the video casts everything in a suspended glow, giving the sense of time folding in on itself rather than moving forward. There’s an intimacy to the piece, but it feels held at a slight remove, like watching something beautiful through glass. Instead of building toward resolution, the song lingers in a state of gentle suspension, delicate but unshakable.
Kuma’s new album, Your Taped Up Heart, will be released on July 17 by Frosti. Pre-order a copy HERE.
