Bright mornings and the hope of a new day ahead open Son of Buzzi’s delightful Fluss. Solo acoustic guitar workouts sound effortless on “Die Reise,” yet the piece is a journey with unexpected turns along the way. Something in the way he plays is transfixing. Field recordings and sound collage add to the lushness. Fluss is music that is buoyant and assured, painted in a thick coat of bright, cheerful paint. On the sublime “Ein Baum tanzt,” I can’t help but smile as the beaming tones wash over me. It’s a simple, wonderful tune and encapsulates what makes Fluss affecting: familiar modes with a lovely, sanguine edge.
