This series of synthesizer improvisations strikes like an electric field swirling inside a glass case. Listening to these four pieces unfold, it’s a study on how sound can move and fill in empty spaces. The first piece snarls like a buzzsaw, severing ideas at the root as the notes stretch and growl until bubbling arpeggios spring to life like water dousing flames. Dichotomous energies unfold in opposite directions on either half of the divide. Elsewhere, disjointed flickering grooves emerge and bump along beatless yet raw and crystalline. Ending up in a starfield, gazing heavenward and hoping for better days, twinkling pads offer solace and grace as the hopeful tones wrap their synthetic arms around you in embrace. Lovely.
Another stellar musician and composer. Those albums of hers are terribly underrated examples of exquisite fusions.
