Marcel Sletten first came onto my radar because of his stellar label, Primordial Void. He’s released countless memorable albums, including his own work. Last week he released his debut full-length, Vicious Kisses, on the excellent sound as language label and it’s been a regular accompaniment to my early morning. Described as “Psychedelic folk music for the digital age,” Sletten’s sense of humor and playful sensibilities push his music into fun and inviting spaces. Vicious Kisses is the best distillation of that approach so far.
Wonderfully titled Backgammon and Wine, this mix is an extension of those themes. Perfect for late evening thunderstorms and lazy, humid strolls. Of note, two unreleased tunes from Marcel are included!
