Track Premiere: Roadhouse “Coulda Been a Penny”

Simple rhythms are a cradle for synthesizer sequence earworms and clanking guitar leads. On Southern Indiana castaway, Roadhouse’s debut, Aladdin Sales, the tire treads are worn smooth and there’s no way the car is making it to the border, but he’s relentless. “Coulda Been a Penny” bops with purpose, metallic chimes rusted out but still singing their ding dang hearts out. The whole thing is charming and ramshackle, saturated with whimsical moxie and backwoods hooks. Let’s groove down the decaying highways together, singing along even though we forgot all the words.

Roadhouse’s Aladdin Sales is out TOMORROW, September 24, on Sophomore Lounge.
