Vādin is the duo of Christian Duka and Lucie Štepánková (aka Avsluta). In their world, details become monoliths, and monoliths melt into intricate mazes. Hollow sequences swirl amidst the fog, ominous and enticing. Throughout “The Furnace,” the atmosphere is caustic but impossible to turn away from as each layer pulses with an inviting, warm glow. Whispered words spell out cryptic warnings over a ceremonial rhythm. Bells repeatedly ring in the luminous distance, a beacon for tomorrow’s hope yet to be snuffed out by the growing shadows.
