Neon lights flood labyrinthine corridors on the bounding synthscapes of Amy Reid’s “Shadow Bath” from her upcoming EP, Utopia. There’s no way to listen to this song and not get up and move. The propulsive rhythm is the instigator, but that bassline flows through every pore. Reid’s voice is a lilting beacon hovering between glowing stars, calling us toward a distant dancefloor where the outside world evaporates like sweat into the thick, humid night. Articulated arrangements become glassine flourishes parading through mirror tunnels, straight into the luminescent spectacle where our silhouettes are having the time of their lives. It’s pure magic.
