Even blurred angles can have sharp edges. Luggage’s “Hand Is Bad,” the title track from their new album, gnaws at the roots, using heavy-handed rhythms and a relentless, grinding crunch to bring down the obstructive view. Layers move in unison, Michael Vallera’s buried voice flickering through cracks in the sonic rubble. Drummer Luca Cimarusti and bassist Michael John Grant provide a concrete foundation, keeping the song tethered to the ground even as timbral dust from Vallera’s guitar progressions stretch skyward. “Hand Is Bad” pulls its own gravity, ready to implode from all the crushing weight.
Hand Is Bad will be released on September 29 by Amish Records. Pre-order HERE.
