Was it today that you wondered whether to keep your albums at Name Your Price? (Or the next or previous day, or maybe on the Seltzer Salon? I’m losing track.) Anyway: my hunch on this is to try it for a non-trivial amount of time and see what it does to your income. My own buying pattern is that I very easily drop $2 (or two Euros or GBP) on just about anything that sounds interesting, as well as things priced up to three dollars (or quatloos or whateverbucks). Things that cost more than that, I usually put off until Bandcamp Friday (or if there isn’t one, the first Friday of the month anyway, for consistency) for which I give myself a hard limit of about $50 (or whatever 200 Israeli shekels, which are my local currency) come to.
So the question is, for an average item, are you earning more per month or year than you would for people paying what they want?
I’ve put my own albums up as NYP — but that may just be due to laziness, and knowing that there’s no way that I would make enough from them for it to be worth it to set a price.
