The odd juxtaposition of imagery and sound in Rrose Defoix’s “Blurb Flu” video is emblematic of the music as a whole. On a surface level, it leaves me disoriented and confused – in a good way – but as I travel further into its sonic cracks, some kind of sense crystallizes. Even while I lose myself in the intricacy of all these textures, a randomness distills spiraling melodies into beguiling abstract forms.
