Greenhouse (not to be confused with Green-House) is the solo moniker of Curran Faris, and on his latest, Sacrifice Zones, he harnesses the slow decay of a calming space, and the tension that underlies every subtle movement. Guitar drones and spacious explorations are imbued with sharp, intricate textures from field recordings and other sonic experimentations, accentuating the beauty that permeates the margins of this music. It’s really something.
Faris shared this about the mix:
Thematically, this mix features music that is austere and restrained, whether it be the musical ideas, the approaches, or the instrumentation and/or arrangement, but also yields expansive sonics and rewarding repeated listens. Many of the records here were also in regular rotation during the recording of my latest album, Sacrifice Zones. If you aren’t familiar with any of the artists here, I urge you to seek them out and directly support them. Thanks for listening.
