Video Premiere: Michelle Moeller “Leafless”

Sonically and visually, Michelle Moeller’s “Leafless” encourages listeners to be still and let this playful electronic world unfold around them. Whimsy spills out in pointillistic tone patterns, each harmonic layer stretching skyward like colorful flowers following the sun’s arc. It’s so engaging and immersive through every twist and turn. Moeller weaves tender threads to the heart of “Leafless,” painting it with idealistic tendencies and binding it to ageless wonder.

“Leafless was written for a very special instrument, the Yamaha CP70 electric grand,” Moeller shares. “The warmth of its tone inspired a love song to harmony itself, a tradition I just can’t break with.” Throughout, this melodic, joyous spirit takes hold through shifting cadences and sonic exploration. Moments of spontaneous catharsis jump out of the colors and shapes in the video, heightening the small, tender ecstasies, and inviting us to let go.

As Moeller says, “‘Leafless’ celebrates the pleasure of loving what I love and sharing it unapologetically.” This music is an absolute delight.

“Leafless” appears on Late Morning, which will be released by AKP Recordings on April 5. Pre-order HERE.
