The visceral connection between sound and our bodies transcends the known world. We experience sound before other senses. It is often the last one to leave us. In Justin Broadrick’s latest FINAL album, What We Don’t See, he explores the unseen world with tonal expanses and explorations. “Only in Dreams” wraps around our minds with scarred sonics, living, breathing drones that seem tactile even if invisible. Bass-laden sprawls not only have a gravity to them, we feel the undulating resonance in our core. It’s a reminder of our body’s impermanence and a promise that something greater exists outside of it. Dense, melodic strains are stretched into oblivion, buried under a mountain of hiss waiting for the surrounding landscape to decay and reveal their glowing resonance. Broadrick’s restraint on “Only in Dreams” is palpable, manifesting illusions in slow-motion and showing us how much more is out there if we close our eyes.
What We Don’t See will be released by Room 40 on May 31. Stream “Only in Dreams” below and pre-order HERE.

Always up for some JB!
All I can do is thank JB as I needed this to calm the ants down in my head. I was going a bit crazy because I’m stressed due to a flight tomorrow. I HATE flying. Anyways, I decided to check this out and man. I’m so calm now. I feel as if I could levitate. My mind and body are just at ease right now.
