Track Premiere: tilt “all and nothing”

Some whispers have a thousand lives. Quiet, intimate moments are the ones that live forever. tilt, the trio of Kalia Vandever, Carmen Quill, and Isabel Crespo Pardo, stitch incantations into a warm, hypnotizing mantra on “all and nothing.” Vandever’s searching trombone playing backs the lilting vocal harmonies like a soft, encompassing glow. Tenderness imbues each breath, but there’s still a sharpness haunting the edges. “Their memories, a kind of breathing, grows and fades,” they sing in unison, the melody aloft, looping in slow-motion before the cadence embraces an underlying tension, “Leaving just a trace of something. It’s as if it’s all and nothing.” That tension is fleeting, though, giving “all and nothing” the space to exhale before sparking another fire into life.

tilt’s debut album, something we once knew, will be released on May 3 by Dear Life Records. Stream below and pre-order HERE.
