I can’t think of a much better way to celebrate Earth Day than with new music from Patricia Wolf. On “Greylag Geese Through the Listening Sculpture at Tjörnin,” from her upcoming album on Nite Hive, The Secret Lives of Birds, she frames spirited field recordings with gentle, aerial electronic patterns. There’s a tenderness to the sonic movements, letting the geese at Tjörnin Lake in Reykjavik come into focus. Distant voices and soft footsteps add an air of mystery as water sloshes in the background, and the birds let their song fly free. Wolf, as always, shows such care with these recordings, and in collaboration with the world around her, creates a warm, new soundworld.

The Secret Lives of Birds will be released by Nite Hive tapes on June 28. Pre-order HERE.
