Video Premiere: Olivier Cong “They don’t sleep on the Beach anymore”

Fractured narratives and elegiac tonescapes combine for a timeless, otherworldly experience in Olivier Cong’s “They don’t sleep on the Beach anymore.” Framed by textural sonic washes, melodic blurs lead to familiar sound worlds. Melancholic note patterns hang in still air as though time stops, shining a spotlight on specific moments we’ve long tried to forget. Cong paints an aural lament in synthetic hues buoyed by subtle field recordings and samples. In Linus Chan’s incredible video, history holds a candle that draws us closer. As light fades into the solemn reveries, a glowing silhouette becomes immortalized, crystalized in lamenting tones, ethereal and endless. A wonder.

Olivier Cong’s Tropical Church will be released by Room 40 on July 19. Pre-order HERE.
