Shards of another life may be strewn in angular, asymmetric patterns in the debris behind us, but they can still cut deep. —__–____, the trio of more eaze, Recovery Girl, and Seth Graham (and here with the wonderful Diana Starshine), hang in the balance on “Kill Kare,” the latest from their upcoming album, Night of Fire. Dissonant strings strangle the breath out of plasticine electronics, leveling the field and leaving space for new growth and exploration. Three vocal approaches – wistful fairytales that get charred and shredded before blooming into elegiac clouds – map pathways to unseen futures. Everything moves in slow motion, heightened by Graham and Zachary Severt’s drag racing video filmed at Kill Kare raceway in Ohio. Graham describes “how interesting, emotional, and democratic drag racing can be,” and in the closing echoes and languid string swells, things feel okay.

Night of Fire will be released by Orange Milk Records on August 30. Pre-order HERE.
