Thomas Ragsdale continues to create sonic environments that I don’t want to leave. His latest is Two Way Mirrors’ Endure, out now on his Frosti label. As soon as I heard it (and wrote about it here), I knew I wanted Ragsdale to do something for Foxy Digitalis’s mix series. He did not disappoint.
In his own words:
I wanted to do something different to the usual mix format, so I took 23 tracks that I love, digitally deconstructed them, played them through tape echo + reel to reel + guitar pedals and then recorded the results as audio. I ended up with a bunch of 1-2 minute snippets of each track that were totally different to their original states, but also still totally recognisable. It was also the easiest way for me to get a hefty tracklist with lots of tunes in that I’ve enjoyed over the past few years and beyond.
