Track Premiere: Theresa Wong “Light in the Grotto”

Repeating cello phrases form secret codes and hidden narratives within the hypnotic presence of “Light in the Grotto.” Theresa Wong’s upcoming album, Journey to the Cave of Guanyin, draws from Chinese folklore, inspired by Guanyin—the deity whose name translates to “the one who perceives all the sounds, or cries, of the world.” Wong crafts a luminous sonic journey, imagining a seafarer venturing into a cave at dusk. With acoustic cello arrangements that exude a quiet yet undeniable presence, “Light in the Grotto” invites deep listening and introspection. Wong’s cocoon-like patterns offer a sense of comfort, their gentle cadence teasing out melodies as soft and timeless as breath. It’s part reverie, part coda, and pure magic.

Journey to the Cave of Guanyin will be released on April 11 by Room 40. Stream below and pre-order HERE.
