Track Premiere: Lau Nau + Sontag Shogun “Go North”

A live performance featuring two musicians at a stage, with colorful lights creating a vibrant atmosphere. One musician is singing into a microphone, while the other is engaged with electronic equipment, surrounded by additional performers and instruments.

“Go North” moves like a breath half-remembered. Jesse Perlstein’s voice holds the center in soft focus while Laura Naukkarinen’s drifts just outside it, twisting around each phrase like vapor. Tape murmur, acoustic guitar, distant piano, and soft electronics ripple beneath, creating a surface that seems calm until small glitches begin to press against it. These electronic flickers don’t disrupt the flow, but test its edges, as if trying to wake it. The piece doesn’t unfold so much as settle in, holding space between presence and recollection. It feels both intimate and slightly out of reach, like the resonance left in a room after sound has gone.

Päiväkahvit will be released by Beacon Sound on June 20. Stream below and pre-order HERE.
