Catpurse is the collaborative project of Hulda Ragnhildur Hjálmarsdóttir and Sofia Zaiceva (aka sofi), two artists working at the edges of sound, code, and memory. Their new track “Fire-Eaters” plays like a transmission from a world only partially remembered. A repeating beep marks time like a warning, something in the distance getting closer with every glitched-out bar. Vocal fragments drift in like signals from ancient radio waves as if a lost civilization we once inhabited is reaching back out from the void. Thumping rhythms pulse and squelch with a kind of tactile urgency, drawn from abstracted memories of movement, heat, and touch. Nothing here stays fixed. It shifts, flickers, and folds into itself, leaving behind a resonance that feels both bodily and broken.
“Fire-Eaters” appears on She Has Candy, which will be released by SØVN on June 12. Stream below and pre-order HERE.
