Madeleine Cocolas’s music often feels like it’s part of the fabric of the world it inhabits. On her forthcoming album for Room 40, Spectral, that world is shrinking. With that comes a sharper focus, and because of this, the recordings have a more intense, personal air to them. She revels in the stillness of these sounds.
