Track Premiere: Taylor Daukas “Long Gone”

Shimmering piano accents dance in the margins behind gentle acoustic guitar strums and a quiet electronic buzz, framing Taylor Daukas’s voice in a golden glow on “False Door.” Produced by the Moone Records crew, Janie and Micah Dailey, Daukas’s new EP, Long Gone, is a spectral folk wonder, captured in still life on this opening single. Horns swell like the warmth in our chests, opening a pathway to a clearing where Daukas’s words are curled up and vulnerable. “Hold my breath, until it’s gone,” she asserts as the sonic framework disintegrates and evaporates into the sky. “False Door” is tenuous, and it’s arrangements delicately balanced, but that’s where its power lies.
