I’ve been wanting to make some kind of mix for the site for a while after having such a blast collaborating on the Halloween and Xmas mixes, so starting the year off with some Charlatan action on Foxy Digitalis feels right. After numerous stops and starts, I finally settled on a mix of one instrument/solo performance (mostly) pieces. There’s a little wiggle room, of course (the Helias/Dress piece is a duet, but both are playing upright bass, for example), but generally, each song is one person playing a single instrument. There are a million directions I could have gone in with this, but this is a nice spread of sonic revenants.
As ever, I’d be thrilled if you checked out the last Charlatan album/chapbook, The Blades, or the recently released collaboration album I made with my 8-year-old daughter, Blanket. But first and foremost, enjoy the mix.
